What we do

Free, plain-language financial education and self-help tools — delivered directly to the public and through community partners.

We teach

Free workshops on credit reports, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, budgeting, debt, and avoiding predatory lending.

We equip

A guided self-help tool and letter library so people can read their own reports and dispute their own errors.

We share

A multilingual online library, openly licensed so any organization may copy, print, translate, and share it.

Non-commercial. Sapientia Foundation charges no fees, sells no products, makes no loans, negotiates no debts on anyone's behalf, and pays or receives no commissions or referral fees. All of our materials are free and released under an open license.

Why it matters

A damaged credit record is a quiet tax on the households least able to afford it.

The Federal Trade Commission found that about one in five consumers had a verified error on a credit report, and roughly one in twenty had an error serious enough to raise the price of credit. Most people do not know their rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Support the work

Sapientia Foundation is an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions fund free workshops, clinics, curriculum, and self-help tools, and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
